Farewell Harlingen and Tropic Winds (ya win some, ya lose some)

After several days of failed launch attempts we were ready for a SpaceX launch today.  See all of the other cars waiting to watch too?  Me neither!😒

We leave Harlingen tomorrow...with mixed feelings.  It feels like it's time to move on, but after 4 months, it also feels like home.  This is the longest we've stayed anywhere since we started travelling.  Best parts:  the people, the park and SpaceX.

"To be with old friends is warm and comforting." -- Ian Ziering

It was so great to meet up with my high school friend Kristi, and her husband Mark, on Monday.  They are from Iowa and are spending the month of March in South Padre.

Spring has sprung!

The yucca faxoniana is native to Texas.  We have them blooming in our RV park too.

We really took it easy this week.  I realize temperature is relative, but for here it was chilly several nights this week. It got down in the low 50's and upper 40's.  It is on it's way up now.  Mid 70's today and by Weds. back up in the 90's.  Fluctuates a lot, just in a different range then what we grew up with.

Happy π Day! 🥧

This is indeed an important day.  "Marie C" has done a lot of work for us today, including an apple crumb pie and beef pot pies.  In all fairness Pat did bake them!

"Let's Roam"

This was our first "Let's Roam" destination, a grapefruit sculpture.  How many sections are in a real grapefruit?

Best day ever!  We don't get a lot of mail but today we got TWO books. Almost 2 weeks ago Samira (5) showed and read to us a cute, scary, and funny book she had written for us.  We didn't know that Cyrus had made us a book too.  It was an activity book (connect the dots), creative, fun, and very good.  Some samplings below.

Think we might be getting old!

Anyone know what this wildflower is?  They have been popping up in our park this week.

I'm full of questions tonight.  Who is the singer in the picture below?  He was featured in this 1995 Wildlife Concert that we watched in our last "Concert in the Park" tonight.  He died in 1997.  This was the first person I saw in concert thanks to my oldest brother John and my sister-in-law Theresa.  They took me to Blossom Music Center In Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in, I believe, 1974.  It was an outdoor theater, nothing like anything I had ever seen, and I was very impressed.  I remember sitting on the hill.

Isla Blanca here we come!

On the second attempt today there was lift-off for Starship SN10!

We were afraid we would miss what looked like a SpaceX Starship SN10 launch this morning because Pat had a 10 a.m. dentist appt. We made it to our viewing spot in Port Isabel around 11.  It finally took off around 5:30 p.m.!

The freeze and a glimpse of RV park life, part 2

I hope this poor cactus recovers from the freeze.

Thursday at 11 was Funky Bingo.  Pat won a gift card to Schoolhouse Creamery.   At noon there was "lunch in the park" with yet another food truck, Chivos (Mexican) from 11-1.  FYI - no rocket launch today, maybe Monday.
