Most people wake up to roosters but...

Time to leave Goshen. We're headed east to our eldest son's. Samira has a birthday to celebrate! Three Harvest Hosts to start our trip. Here's our past week:

Cool weather hit our last 3 days in Goshen. It was in the low 40's at night but our two little heaters keep it in the upper 60's inside. If it's too cold we run the propane furnace which also heats the basement.

On a very rainy Sunday I wanted to check out the quilt gardens in Goshen. There are quite a few in various towns along the heritage trail but I was settling for the three in Goshen. And, honestly, it was Oct. so I wasn't expecting much. The first one was just dirt, the one at the Old Bag Factory was wet and had seen better days but it had flowers, and the one at the fairgrounds was colorful.  None show the quilt pattern they are meant to be that I can tell!

We almost made it through our first day without a problem. Pat pulled over as soon as we heard the loud noise. One of the last windows to break off of it's connecter arm. Pat has also reglued most of the dual pane windows which have separated. He's a pro! Unlike many others we haven't had any windows fly off from either event, although I have had to hold onto a couple until he could stop.

Thank you to Harvest Host #1 on Monday, Firelands Winery in Sandusky, Ohio. I was STILL under the weather from our Friday vaccinations and maybe a "little" cranky. Probably shouldn't have gotten two shots at once. It sounded like cannonballs, but I'm sure it was just some kind of air cannon that went off every minute from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to scare the birds and vermin away from the grape vines.

Lake Erie

Thanks to Harvest Host #2 on Tuesday, Heritage Wine Cellars, Nort East (name of the town), PA. A free sampling for Harvest Hosts members.

Pat, are we going the wrong way?

Thank you to Harvest Host #3, Smokey Hollow Maple Syrup in Jordan, N.Y.

A thriving business that began in 1975 as a hobby for Jim Hotaling. He taps 1,800 trees.

Aging the maple syrup in a bourbon barrel. Maple syrup, Bourbon maple syrup, Maple sugar and was that enough? No, let's add some maple candy. We even got some FREE maple ice cream.

Sunny Skies on Thurs. and no-coat weather in the afternoon. Headed down to 39° tonight. We are really enjoying the beautiful fall weather with hints of color in the trees! The trees here are actually behind the colors we saw near Indiana.

Our last stop before the Boston area, Austerlitz, NY.

We have arrived! Another Spacious Skies campground.
Where are the Piepers now? Littleton, MA
