And again!

My banana was perfect Saturday morning!

The village of Boca Chica was evacuated early Friday morning with roads closed, air space cleared, and the launching pad cleared, so we headed for Port Isabel, arriving before 8:30.  No sooner did we get there and Mary sent notice that the evacuation was cancelled and there would be no launch Friday.  Next chance will be Monday.

We came home and spent the day doing simple, fun things. We went for a couple of bike rides, a walk and played shuffleboard.  In the afternoon we were treated to a free outdoor concert by Pelican West at our RV park.  They played a variety of music.  The Food Coma food truck was there along with Kona Ice.  I didn't want an icy but I forgot they were also selling Girl Scout Cookies.  Surely I can find them other places too.  

I felt a "home" (as in childhood home) connection today.  We didn't stay long at the concert because there were a lot of people (all masked though), but we did go get fried zucchini at Food Coma.  Just the smell took me back "home," although my Mom always sliced hers the other way so they were coins not fries.  We took the delicious, as well as unhealthy, treat back to our RV where we could still hear the music.  Many RV parks charge for the entertainment they provide, ours is always free.

I've mentioned the "Veggie Man," Jose Yarra, who comes to our park Monday's at 2:30.  He has been traveling to RV parks in the RGV for 21 years.  He will core and slice the best pineapple you will ever have.  He usually has some small peanuts Pat seems to really like.  The fruits and vegetables are fresh, usually keep longer than store-bought, delicious, and cheap.  I bring him up again because of bananas.  I do not like ripe bananas.  No matter the color, the store-bought bananas have not been lasting.  The Veggie Man has yellow and green bananas that last.  This week they were REALLY green.  My daughter-in-law, Zia, said to put them in a bag  with an apple.  Results below.

It's  Sat. and these were all purchased Mon.  The yellow banana was in the sack with the apple Tues.-Fri. and was perfect for eating.  Pat stuck another banana in yesterday.  Who knew?  Thanks Zia!
