Sand sledding

Looking good Pat!  Video on blog

Thursday we tried "sand sledding," a lot like snow sledding, but a lot warmer!  It was a lot of fun but it was also a lot of work to climb back up to the top.  We managed to both fall off our sled on one of our 3? trips down, but I got Pat's on video.  I guess mine was a lot more interesting, lol.  Seems we collected a lot of sand!  I kept thinking the grandkids would love this!

Ready to go

After emptying our shoes and brushing off a lot of sand, we took a 1 mile walk on the Dune Life Nature Trail.  It was a family trail where kids could learn about desert creatures.  Blue poles guided us around the trail.  When we were done it was mid afternoon and we decided we were done with desert life for the day.  We still brushed more sand off before getting in the car.

In Alamogordo we stopped at McGinn's PistachioLand.  They claim to have the world's largest Pistachio.  After our sand adventures we were tired and ready to go back to the RV.  We brushed more sand off.  Note to self:  car needs vacuuming!

In memory of Thomas McGinn (1929-2007) founder of "Pistachio Tree Ranch."

Before we went into the RV we dumped more sand out of our shoes and brushed more sand off of ourselves.  Note to self:  vacuum the RV really well.

Weds. night it had rained hard, nearly all night.  When I took Krikkit out at 6:30 a.m. it was very wet and 45°. The rain had stopped by 10 a.m. Thurs. with just  a few sprinkles throughout the day. Amazing that by the end of the day all of the puddles were gone.

  1. The sledding looks like fun. And you don't have to get bundled up to do it!
