It's Mardis Gras time!

Emma's sailing vessel, the S. S. Bob

Grandaughter #1 spent Friday night with us.  Loved having her.  We stopped at Sonic after the Mardis Gras parade.  Saturday morning Emma and Pat enjoyed a Marvel movie before we all headed down to the beach to do some creative shell art.  It was windy and very nippy out. Emma picked Subway for lunch.

We stopped at Krogers in Galveston after we took Emma home and one of the Mardis Gras parades was lining up on the sea wall.

When we took Emma home Toni, Clara, and Winnie were soaking up the sunshine.

Emma and Pat

What a pose Pat captured!

Emma added some of her Mardi Gras beads to the crow's nest.  Must of had a pirate ship go by, I checked on it Sat. night and the treasures were gone!

Emma's breakfast of choice.

Friday, Toni, her parents, and the other 3 grandaughters joined us in Galveston for a fun afternoon and evening.  We played mini-golf, had dinner at Coastal Grill (it's kind of a tradition), and attended Galveston's first Mardis Gras parade of 2022.

The first Mardis Gras Ball was celebrated in Galveston in 1867.  It is now the third largest Mardis Gras celebration in the U.S.  It is a 2 weekend event with many parades and concerts.  250,000 visit Galveston for Mardis Gras.

We (and a lot of others) enjoyed the parade from behind a fence as the entire route was fenced.  $25 to get in and enjoy adult beverages as you walked around.  We found out later that a decorated parasol got you in free.  Pretty sure you had to be 18 and up to get in.

Clara was a pretty good golfer.

Where are the Piepers now?  Galveston, TX

  1. It looks like Emma and Pat are watching The Eternals. We watched it with Landon last night (Saturday). The Mardi Gras stuff looks fun.

    1. You are correct, The Eternals. Very observant. Mardis Gras parade was fun. Lots of beads. Pat heard there's 350,000 here this year. Hope Landon is enjoying his time there!
