HOT, HOT, HOT!

VERY hot and humid today.  In the 90's.  I thought I went out early to walk but I only did one and a half miles, just too hot.  Not many people out.

I had my 2nd day of PT and we did HyVee curbside grocery pick-up today.  I went to one other store to get a handful of items HyVee didn't have.  The only thing I couldn't get was yeast--again.  Pat laughs at me because I never use yeast, but has become a challenge!  Why, of all things, is yeast so hard to come by?

That pretty much took care of our day.  We don't move too fast.  We did walk 2 loops around the campground later tonight.  There was a cone in the site next to us so maybe we'll wake up to new neighbors tomorrow.  On the other side of us is a couple we met here last year.

Hoping wherever you are it is peaceful!

  1. I guess everyone is learning to bake bread and other items or just hoarding the yeast. I read an article in April that yeast should hit shelves again in 1-2 months, so soon we'll be able to find it hopefully. If there are any restaurants near you that are selling grocery items in addition to food, they may have it. I did notice a restaurant here that was selling it but I've still got a bit left for now.

    1. I don't bake bread, it really is just the challenge of finding it.😀 Actually I don't even eat much bread. Last month I saw jars of bread machine yeast, which would have worked, but since I know I won't use it that seemed like a waste.

    2. This is Leah as unknown by the way...it said I was posting with my gmail account but apparently that doesn't have a name. I also like to make pizza crust with the yeast, and I'm going to try to grill it so I don't have to heat up my apartment in the Arizona heat!

    3. I'm not sure what you have to do to "be named." Sally had the same issue but finally figured out how to fix it. I guess I should find out what she did. There again some people may like being "unknown." It also keeps us wondering!😀 When there were more of us at home we made homemade pizza crust too. I tried a yeastless pizza crust a couple of months ago but didn't like it that much. If you have a pizza stone or cast iron skillet they work well on the grill by the way.

    4. Leah, post a picture of your pizza when you grill it and let us know what you think of it.

    5. This was Sally's response to changing from "unknown" to her name: I'm not sure why but one time it had a message about creating a name or account. And then it started showing.

  2. Well maybe the baking will slow down now that the hot weather is here. I have a jar of regular yeast I use for bread but want the quick kind for making pizza. If I can't get it I'll just use the regular, or maybe order pizza. It is hot here too so baking is not at the top of my list.

    1. We aren't baking either, just think ivwoukd find it somewhere. Not something I would think would be hoarded. The only cooking at these temperatures is on the grill. We have to pay for our electric since we are on a monthly rate.
